Ceduna Shelly Beach Scenic Dune Walk Trail. This Dune Wak Trail is open to the Public in the township of Ceduna and is located just inside the Shelly Beach Park Entry. Free entry and free car parking areas. There are 3 seperate walk trails you can choose from and their starting points are marked on the map. The brochures and maps of the Scenic Dune Walk Trail are available at the Ceduna Visitor Information Centre, 58 Poynton Street, Ceduna SA. Open Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm Saturday & Sunay 9.30am - 4 pm 1. Villa Loop which is approximately 800 meters round trip and takes about 10-15 minutes. This walk takes you over the sand dune, past the villas, down a 4x4 path to the beach, past the beach shade then back up the track. 2. Beach Loop which is approximately 2.4 kilometers and takes 30-40 minutes to walk. This walk starts behind the camp kitchen, takes you up to the sand dune ridge past the sand mine on the right then turn left along the boundry that leads to Shelly Beach.Take a lesuirely stroll along the beach or go for a swim if desired then back up the 4x4 path, turn left down into the valley and back to the beginning behind the campers kitchen. 3. Bush Loop which is approximately 2.2 kilometers and takes 30-40 minutes to walk. This walk starts behind the campers kitchen, takes you up to the sand dune ridge, past the sand mine on the right, then turn right along the boundry that leads parallel along the main road. Continue past the sand mine on the right into the valley and back to the start. The Scenic Dune Walk is a self guided walk trail that has landmarked bollards to guide you on the different trails. You may encounter the odd kangaroo, sleepy lizards, black birds, colourfull parrots and other various native birds, great for the enthusiastic bird watcher. The dunes are covered with various native flora vegetation. Once you hit the ridge top of the natural living dune you will experience a magnificent 360 degree panoramic view, which includes the racecourse track, the bunker sites where the grains are stored, Ceduna Waters Estate, Thevenard Silos, Cargo ships entering the Channel into the Port, seabirds diving into the ocean, dolphins swimming and the enthusiastic wind surfers flying through the waters. Take photos of stunning sunsets over the bay and if time permits have a fish on the beach. For more information please visit the office before you start the walk.
